At the Y, our purpose is to strengthen community. One way we accomplish this is through our Food Program. For over 10 years, we have been selected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to operate their Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). CACFP operates September - May while SFSP operates June - August.

Through their support, we are able to provide over 50,000 nutritious meals to children in our community each year. Due to this partnership we are able to provide meals year round. If you or someone you know would benefit from this program information on meal service is below.

Child and Adult Care Food Program

Purpose: Ensuring Children and Adults Have Access to Nutritious Meals and Snacks

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federal program that provides reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks to eligible children and adults who are enrolled for care at participating child care centers, day care homes, and adult day care centers. CACFP also provides reimbursements for meals served to children and youth participating in afterschool care programs, children residing in emergency shelters, and adults over the age of 60 or living with a disability and enrolled in daycare facilities.

Summer Food Service Program

Purpose: Ensuring Children have Access to Nutritious Meals and Snacks When School is not in Session

What is the Summer Food Service Program? The SFSP is a federally-funded, state-administered program. The SFSP reimburses providers who serve free healthy meals to children and teens in low-income areas during the summer months when school is not in session. The SFSP serves children and teens age 18 and younger.
